About Us

Hi, I’m Madison Lowry, a former teacher, lifelong learner, and passionate believer in the power of playful, hands-on education. Ever since I was a kid myself (I even asked for an overhead projector for Christmas in eighth grade!), I knew I wanted to work with children and create spaces for them to grow and discover.

I spent six wonderful years in the classroom, teaching everything from math to digital fabrication to entrepreneurship. Now, as a mom to two young kids, my love for creating meaningful learning experiences has only grown. I’m passionate about designing activities where kids are so engaged and having so much fun, they barely realize how much they’re learning.

Through Pieces of Learning, I’m excited to help bring playful, accessible, and impactful learning experiences to families because every child deserves to feel the joy of discovery.

 

Hi, I’m Emily Hurst, a lifelong educator and learner with a deep passion for helping kids find their unique strengths and interests. I believe every child deserves the opportunity to explore a wide range of activities, so they can discover the sweet spot where their talents and passions meet. Whether it’s through robotics, creative storytelling, or hands-on projects, my goal is to provide learners with diverse experiences that spark curiosity and ignite a lifelong love of learning.

Over my ten years working in a K-12 school district, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is for kids to try new things, make mistakes, and grow in environments that encourage exploration. I’m committed to designing learning experiences that allow kids to discover what excites them and helps them build the skills they need to thrive in whatever path they choose.

Through my work with Pieces of Learning, I aim to create opportunities that empower children to take ownership of their learning journey and find their own spark-- as early as possible!
